This full-time, grant-funded , non-faculty research position is a renewable twelve-month appointment, with continued employment contingent on funding availability, program needs, and satisfactory performance with a hybrid work location between Stephenville, Texas, and field sites in Millsap, Texas. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate . Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
The research associate performs independent or supervisory roles in Equine Reproduction Research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge. Contributes to proposals for funding agencies, operation of research equipment, and assists in the training and mentoring of undergraduate students. This position will train under the direction of a research mentor in a full-time program of advanced research and training beyond the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine level.

Responsibilities:
+ Perform ovarian follicular aspirations in mares to obtain immature and matured pre-ovulatory oocytes
+ Develop in vitro maturation conditions for oocytes
+ Cryopreserve oocytes and enhance understanding of conditions necessary for cellular maturation
+ Conduct fieldwork at an equine clinical facility as part of the research responsibilities
+ Assist in training and mentoring undergraduate students involved in research projects
+ Collaborate with faculty and researchers on ongoing studies and contribute to the development of new research initiatives
+ Prepare research findings for publication in scientific journals and present results at academic conferences
+ Contribute to grant writing and project proposals related to equine reproduction research
+ Support the development and maintenance of laboratory facilities at the Animal and Plant Sciences Center
Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
+ Two years of related professional experience
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree
Appointment Terms:
+ Contingent upon mutual agreement, satisfactory performance, and availability of funds
+ Appointment renewal is at the university's discretion
Professional Development:
+ Opportunity for collaborative and independent research and publication
+ Performance evaluation: At least one written evaluation per 12-month appointment

Salary Range
The target base annual salary range is $40,000.
