    Title: HOME DELIVERY MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (RFT) Location: United States-Hawaii-Honolulu Job Number: 250003EJ Job Summary: Operates a truck having a gross vehicle weight of more than 10 000 pounds and up to 26 000 pounds on public and military installations. Duties and Responsibilities: Operates a motor vehicle having a gross vehicle weight over 10 000 and up to 26 000 pounds. Assures that cargo is properly loaded distributed and secured and that vehicle is not loaded beyond capacity. Completes trip tickets and driver accident reports. - Completes pre and post trips inspection reports and performs preventive maintenance on assigned vehicle or vehicle being utilized for that days work . - Loads and unloads vehicle using handcart pallet-jack forklift etc. ensuring care is taken to prevent damage. Installs merchandise in customers homes. Sign for and obtains receipts notes over short or damaged merchandise. - May pickup and deliver home furnishings and related items to customers homes. Assembles furniture prior to delivery or in customers homes using common handtools. - May perform warehousing duties associated with the receipt storage and issue of resale merchandise. May assist in moving merchandise in stores for display purposes. - May occasionally drive other type and size vehicles for which qualified and licensed when required by the workload. - Exersises tact and courtesy when assisting and dealing with customers. - Performs other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL EFFORT Light physical effort is used in operating the controls of the vehicle and heavy effort may be required in frequent handling and lifting objects over 40 lbs with assistance. WORKING CONDITIONS Works outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather while loading and unloading vehicles. Is subject to cuts bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or loading unloading vehicles. Is exposed to the possiblilty of accidents while driving in all types of traffic and weather. JOB REQUIREMENTS If incumbent is operating a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 26 000 lbs. or more 1. Must possess a valid state commercial driver s license CDL with a class B endorsement for cargo stake dump heavy straight vehicles. A class A endorsement for tractor trailor semi-trailor combination vehicles is also acceptable. 2. Must possess a H endorsement on their CDL which permits them to transport hazardous materials HazMats . 3. Must meet Department of Transportation DOT physical and medical requirements and pass a preemployment drug screening. If incumbent is operating a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight less than 26 000 lbs. 1. Must possess a valid state driver s license. 2. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle safely. TRAINING REQUIREMENT Associate must receive HazMat training within 90 days of hire per DOT regulations. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity command Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE One year of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform the duties of operating a motor vehicle to transport items to and from various locations. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE One year of experience operating a motor vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of more than 10 000lbs. and up to 26 000lbs. to transport items to and from various locations. Possession of a valid state driver s license or a valid commercial driver s license CDL . PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Light physical effort is used in operating the controls of the vehicle and moderate effort may be required in frequent handling or lifting objects weighing 40lbs or occasionally heavier with assistance.
