Our Mechanical Engineer is responsible for performing a wide range of complex mechanical engineering functions related to the design, testing and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. This individual will provide project solutions, estimates and designs on complex projects relative to budget, performance, and schedule.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

+ Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field from a four-year college or university.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

+ A valid insurable Driver’s License is required

+ A valid passport is preferred

+ 15 – 20% travel required for this position

JOB DUTIES

ENGINEERING

+ Interprets scope and project requirements and develops design alternatives.

+ Works on complex assignments and exercises judgement and initiative to solve problems and make sound recommendations.

+ Performs engineering calculations as required to support mechanical design work.

+ Improves, develops and maintains engineering standards and criteria.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

+ Monitors and maintains project schedule and budget.

+ Understands and follows Concept’s project methodology.

+ Coordinates billing and review and approves invoices.

SALES & MARKETING SUPPORT

+ Supports and prepares proposal estimates and completes technical research in a timely manner.

+ Provides technical content as requested at sales meetings.

+ Writes project briefs for larger projects.

CUSTOMER RELATIONS

+ Maintains existing relationships.

+ Develops and fosters new relationships.

+ Provides prompt and courteous response to service and support issues.

+ OTHER

+ In-depth understanding of engineering concepts, principles and theories.

+ Prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time efficiently.

+ Exhibits a high level of professionalism and builds trust both within the organization and with customers.

+ Strong technical writing abilities.

+ Travels to support project and sales requirements

+ Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.

+ Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.

+ Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customers and coworkers and including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Job requires specialized computer skills. Must be adept at using various applications including database, spreadsheet, report writing, project management, graphics, word processing, presentation creation/editing, communicate by e-mail and use scheduling software on Microsoft systems and programs. Ability to generate system layout for proposal and projects in 2D drawings and 3D models.

Ability to navigate automation/control system integration projects across a variety of industries and applications. Skills with SolidWorks or comparable 3D modeling software required. AutoCAD skills preferred.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and extreme heat (non-weather). The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold (non-weather) and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment may vary depending on start-up and customer site visit environments. Travel to customer sites is required for this position; 20-30% annually.
