Summary As a Security Assistant with Suitability Executive Agent Programs (SuitEA), you will review and analyze background investigations, research and verify suitability information, and support adjudication actions that help ensure an effective, reliable, and trustworthy federal workforce. Responsibilities Review suitability referrals - Examine routine and non-routine referrals, background investigations to include debarment cases, to determine if they meet OPM jurisdiction and adjudication guidelines. Research and verify information - Gather data from background investigations, court records, employment records, and law-enforcement sources to clarify discrepancies or incomplete case details. Prepare case documentation - In routine cases, draft correspondence, written inquiries, fieldwork requests, and written recommendations. Coordinate with agencies - Communicate with agency security or HR offices to obtain clarifying information, resolve adjudicative discrepancies, and ensure accurate case processing. Maintain case systems and reports - Enter, track, and update case data; generate timeliness, status, and workload management reports for follow-up and branch review. Support branch operations - Assist with outreach, file preparation and other administrative projects supporting suitability adjudication functions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a U.S. Citizen or National Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation May be required to successfully complete a probationary period Candidates will not be hired based on their race, sex, color, religion, or national origin Complete the initial online assessment and USAHire Assessment, if required This position is not eligible for inclusion in a bargaining unit Qualifications Applicants must have one of the following: At least one year of specialized experience that is equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal service that includes providing clerical support to an organization by maintaining files; reviewing and preparing correspondence; using databases; answering and directing telephone calls to the appropriate office; plan and organize work, maintaining security of sensitive information, reviewing documents for accuracy, accurately entering information into a database. 4 years of education beyond high school. An equivalent combination of specialized experience and post high school education. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
