Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manufacturing Engineer with extensive machining expertise and proven experience in capital expenditure (CapEx) project implementation. This role will lead manufacturing process improvements, oversee the execution of large-scale projects such as new equipment installations and facility upgrades, and drive operational excellence. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical knowledge of machining processes with strong project management and leadership skills to deliver sustainable improvements in productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Engineering & Process Optimization
+ Develop, optimize, and standardize machining processes (CNC milling, turning, grinding, etc.) to ensure efficiency, repeatability, and high-quality output.
+ Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective actions to address process inefficiencies, equipment downtime, and quality issues.
+ Design and improve manufacturing workflows, plant layouts, and line balancing for optimal throughput.
+ Apply lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement strategies across operations.
Capital Project Implementation
+ Manage the full lifecycle of CapEx projects, from business case development and ROI justification through procurement, installation, and commissioning.
+ Develop scopes of work, project timelines, and budgets; track and report performance against KPIs.
+ Collaborate with operations, maintenance, finance, and external vendors to ensure projects meet technical, safety, and financial requirements.
+ Oversee factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and operator training for new equipment.
Leadership & Collaboration
+ Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
+ Serve as a subject-matter expert in machining processes and manufacturing systems.
+ Work closely with leadership to align engineering initiatives with strategic business goals.
+ Champion a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
+ Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.
+ Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
+ Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
+ Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards. (CR & Enervac only)
+ Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner
+ Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
+ Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Education:
+ Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
+ Professional certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, PMP, or PE license) are a plus.
+ Experience:
+ Minimum of 8 years experience in manufacturing engineering, with extensive hands-on machining background.
+ Demonstrated success scoping, leading, and delivering CapEx projects ranging from $250K+
+ Experience in high-volume or precision manufacturing environments preferred.
+ Technical Skills:
+ Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam, etc.).
+ Deep understanding of machining principles, GD&T, tooling, and materials.
+ Familiarity with ERP/MES systems and project management software.
+ Knowledge of industrial codes, OSHA regulations, and safety standards.
+ Soft Skills:
+ Strong leadership, influencing, and communication abilities.
+ Data-driven problem solver with excellent analytical skills.
+ Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and manage competing priorities.
Physical and Technical Environment
• Minimal lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally. • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop in a normal office environment. • Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs, utilizing elevator. • Separate exposure to machine and tool hazards requiring care and attention to safety rules and standards. • Must respond to changing requirements and working conditions.
