This position exists to provide collection, processing and disposal of solid waste, recycling, organics, scrap metal, treated and untreated wood, demolition debris operation, and contaminated soils storage for Camp Ripley Training Site.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.
- Ability to perform work functions that provide recycling, solid waste collection, processing and disposal.
- Ability to perform work functions for demolition debris collection and landfill operations.
- Provide quality Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) program on all tools and equipment.
- Ability to safely operate and perform preventive maintenance on Refuse vehicles.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions; provide work instructions to unskilled helpers.
- Knowledge and the ability to maintain refuse equipment to ensure safe working environment.
- Must pass a criminal background check and obtain a Common Access Card
- Must possess a valid Minnesota Class B driver’s license
- Must possess the ability to be licensed for demo debris landfill operation within one year of hiring.
Must have a thorough knowledge of the various articles of machinery and equipment used in refuse collection,
recycling, or demo debris.
- Check equipment before, during and after operation as prescribed by Military Maintenance Manual.
- Perform preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on all equipment and tools.
- Listens for unusual noises or unusual conditions and reports same to mechanic.
- Respond to and clean up hazardous spills and meet training requirements set by the Post Commander and
HAZWOPER Training Course.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions; provide work instructions to unskilled helpers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demo Debris Landfill license.
- Operate a 40 yd garbage truck.
- Must have knowledge skills and abilities related to recycling practices, organics, and hazardous waste
material.
- Operate 6000 lbs. forklift
- Operate a frontend loader.
- Able to operate a cardboard compactor.
- Understand the recycling processes
Physical Requirements
- Position requires lifting objects up to 50 pounds and frequently lifting/carrying objects such as heavy tools, ladders and equipment. Job may require walking or standing to a significant degree on rough terrain and may involve sitting, crawling, bending and stooping with pushing and pulling of arms and/or leg controls. Ability to work in an environment which may include exposure to dust, noise, heat, moisture and adverse weather conditions such as heat, cold, snow, rain and/or wind.
