Responsibilities
The Translational Neuroproteomics Laboratory (Rossoll Lab) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our NIH-funded project investigating the role of nuclear-import receptor proteins (importins) as modifiers of TDP-43 phase transition and toxicity in frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
This project integrates cutting-edge molecular, cellular, and animal model systems to dissect the mechanisms by which importins acting as chaperons restore TDP-43 solubility, nuclear localization, and function, with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic strategies for TDP-43 proteinopathies.
The Rossoll Lab is part of the Department of Neuroscience and the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The candidate will have access to state-of-the-art facilities in molecular biology, microscopy, and proteomics.
A Research Fellow position in Life Sciences (LS) will require knowledge of either clinical-based research or laboratory-based research often obtained from a postdoctoral program.
A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.
Qualifications
+ Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Neuroscience, Cell or Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field
+ Strong background in molecular and cell biology techniques, mammalian cell culture, and fluorescence microscope
+ Experience with mouse models of neurodegeneration is highly desirable
+ Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter describing their research interests, a CV, and contact information for three references.
Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
