Shipyard Laborer - North Island, Coronado

Job Description

+ Assist in the installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of cable systems. Ensure techniques, materials, and accomplishments meet technical standards and specifications, along with engineering directives. Operate hand and power tools of all types, including air hammers and measuring instruments, to complete tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

+ Clean and prepare sites, removing rubble and debris.

+ Assist other trade workers as needed.

+ Load and unload equipment, carrying materials to skilled workers.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in shipboard, general laborer, and helper roles.

+ Familiarity with ship repair, shipyard, and marine environments.

+ Knowledge of OSHA 10 regulations.

+ Proficiency with hand and power tools.

+ Ability to perform general laborer duties including cable pulling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Previous shipyard experience is required.

+ Ability to work Monday through Saturday.

Work Environment

+ Work will be performed at various shipyard facilities in San Diego, CA, including Nassco, BAE, CMSD, North Island, and the Naval Base on 32nd Street. The role requires flexibility with start times as early as 5 am and the ability to work up to 10-hour days.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
