PRIMARY PURPOSE:
World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) is the only global trade association that represents the interests of credit unions and financial cooperatives at the international level. Our membership consists of more than 90 national and regional credit union associations on six continents, as well as industry partners who support our work.
Position Summary
The Director of Operations will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing the company's day-to-day operations and leading the Human Resources, IT, Accounting, Finance, and Facilities functions. The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on leader who will be responsible for development and oversight of a shared services strategy that includes efficient systems and processes across multiple domains (in-house and/or outsourced) to drive the organization's success and growth. This role requires a high degree of versatility, with a focus on ensuring operational excellence, financial reporting, vendor management, and maintaining a positive and compliant workplace.
Key Responsibilities
The activities below may be either performed in-house or outsourced to a third-party provider based on the approved Shared Services Strategy. When performed in-house, the Director will be directly responsible for the work associated to meet the deliverables listed below. For any activity outsourced, the Director will be responsible for development of the Services Standards with each vendor and ensuring that each vendor meets the agreed standards.
1. General Operations
+ Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the company runs efficiently and effectively.
+ Monitor daily business activities and analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
+ Manage procurement and resource allocation, ensuring the company has the necessary tools and supplies.
+ Serve as a primary point of contact for external vendors, partners, and clients, maintaining strong, productive relationships.
+ Oversee facilities management and ensure a safe, functional work environment.
+ Serve as the Management liaison to the Board of Directors Audit and Risk Management Committee.
2. Human Resources (HR)
+ Oversee all HR-related activities, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training.
+ Administer employee benefits programs and oversee payroll processes.
+ Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
+ Handle employee relations, performance management, and offboarding procedures.
+ Develop and update the company's employee handbook and HR policies.
3. Accounting & Finance
+ Oversee financial management, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions.
+ Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, financial reporting, and budget preparation.
+ Prepare management financial statements on a monthly basis and provide narrative to senior leadership on the results as well as financial related KPIs.
+ Collaborate with external accountants for annual audits and financial reviews.
+ Monitor budgets and financial performance to ensure fiscal health and responsible resource management.
+ Coordinate annual renewals of all corporate insurance programs.
+ Implement a robust Enterprise Risk Management tracking system.
4. Information Technology (IT)
+ Provide oversight and direction for all company technology, including hardware, software, and information systems.
+ Coordinate with IT vendors for technical support, equipment maintenance, and network security.
+ Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure data security and operational continuity.
+ Manage technology-related projects, such as system upgrades or new software implementation.
+ Oversee the production, development, & content creation by team members of the various company and specific program websites in service.
Required Experience:
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (Master's preferred).
+ Proven experience in a senior management role, with a strong background in operational management.
+ Experience with HR functions and systems, including recruitment, payroll, and benefits administration.
+ Proficiency in accounting principles and experience with financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks, Acumatica, etc.).
+ Experience overseeing IT functions, shared services outsourcing, and managing vendor relationships.
+ Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
+ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
LOCATION:
Remote but must reside in the Madison, WI surrounding area.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Yes
TRAVEL
Up to 10% travel including both domestic and international travel.
