Seeking an Automation Technician in the Cedar Rapids Area!!

Job Description

This position is based in Eastern Iowa and focuses on providing PLC and HVAC automation support. The Automation Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting and commissioning PLC-based control systems, including wiring, sensors, and BACnet networks. Key tasks involve diagnosing HVAC issues, modifying control programs, and creating system dashboards. The ideal candidate will possess strong PLC troubleshooting skills, field experience, and the ability to work independently on construction sites.

Responsibilities

+ Troubleshoot PLC systems and diagnose control logic issues.

+ Commission microprocessor-based controls such as DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, and transducers.

+ Verify wiring for grounding, polarity, communication, and power.

+ Calibrate input/output devices, including temperature sensors and pressure transducers.

+ Upload, download, and modify control programs.

+ Configure BACnet networks, including IP, subnet, MAC, and instance numbers.

+ Modify and debug ladder logic, structured text, and function block programming.

+ Troubleshoot basic HVAC systems.

+ Map control points to supervisory controllers; add alarms and history.

+ Link control points to graphics and dashboards.

+ Design automation system graphics and dashboards.

Essential Skills

+ Associate's degree in Electronics, Technology, or Automation.

+ Experience in troubleshooting PLC systems and diagnosing control logic issues.

+ Ability to work independently on construction sites.

+ Experience with Microsoft Products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Familiarity with Microsoft SQL or other database applications.

+ Ability to work autonomously.

The work environment includes both office and field settings. In the office, expect extended periods of desk work involving computer-based tasks. Field work involves frequent visits to local construction job sites with significant client interaction, requiring 30-50% travel, though managers anticipate it being under 20%, primarily on weekdays with several months' notice. This is a Permanent position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $57000.00 - $70000.00/yr.

- ESOP- 401K through Principal- Medical/Dental/Vision- FSA- HSA- Employee Assistance Program- PTO starting at 3 weeks + 7 holidays
