    Tutors are responsible for encouraging students to develop a systemic approach to studying that will serve them in many courses as well as integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize the student's potential for academic progress. Under general supervision, the tutor will:

     

    + Provide individual in-person and online tutoring sessions for specific math and math related subjects, including but not limited to Learning Support Math, Business Math, Intermediate Algebraic Concepts, Foundations of Mathematics, College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, and Quantitative Skills/Reasoning

    + Maintain a tutoring schedule convenient to our students;

    + Maintain a positive, warm attitude that encourages students to learn;

    + Facilitate study skills workshops for students;

    + Perform basic duties to support the daily operations of the tutoring program.

     

    Minimum qualifications include: Bachelor's Degree in math (or closely related field) from a national or regionally accredited college or university with an overall GPA of 3.0 in mathematics OR four-year college or university student with demonstrated tutoring experience and an overall GPA of 3.0 in math or related subject.

     

    + Demonstrated ability and experience in mathematics

    + Excellent communication skills

    + Flexibility with working conditions and schedules

    + Ability and willingness to work with students from diverse cultural backgrounds, age levels and levels of academic preparation

     

    Must be skilled in computer operation and proficient with job-related software programs. Must also be open to training and skills development. Applicant may be required to obtain a faculty recommendation. Previous tutoring or teaching experience is a plus, as is the a bility to quickly establish rapport and communication with students and instructors and maintain strict confidentiality of all student information, material, and discussions shared in the tutoring relationship.
