    Position Description

    This position will serve as a Security Guard for the Water- Operations Division. This position will oversee and participate in patrolling assigned areas to protect public property, buildings, related facilities, visitors, and employees. This position requires flexibility to work varying schedules, including evenings, nights, or overnight assignments.

     

    Employees at Metro Water Services (MWS) work around the clock to supply, treat, manage, and protect our water resources in a sustainable manner for the benefit of all who live, work, and play in our community. Our dedicated, diverse workforce provides high quality drinking water and the best in wastewater treatment, storm water management, and waste collection services for our customers in the Nashville-Davidson County area. Our employees work together to service more than 210,000 water and 216,000 sewer accounts along with over 150,000 curbside waste collection customers. We are looking for highly engaged individuals to join our team.

    Typical Duties

    + Controls admittance of persons or vehicles on government property.

    + Monitors and operates various security devices/systems.

    + Drives carts and metro vehicles to patrol property perimeter and remote buildings.

    + Issues visitor passes and maintains visitor logs.

    + Gives directions and provides other information to employees and the public.

    + May collect dump tickets or validate permits for Environmental Compliance where required.

    + Patrols government property on foot, in a cart, or with a vehicle to ensure that areas are free of obstructions, loiterers, and vandalism.

    + Maintains order and calls for police assistance as needed.

    + May carry firearms and attend in-service training programs.

    + Maintains accurate records.

    Minimum Qualifications

    High School Diploma OR equivalent.

    LICENSES REQUIRED

    Valid Driver License

     

    NOTE: Handgun Permit and compliance with the conditions of the Metropolitan Government's policy 6.7-1 covering employees who carry firearms as a requirement of the job.

    Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.

     

    Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

     

    + Experience using Microsoft Office products including Excel, and Word

    + Knowledge and understanding of physical security practices and applications

    + Knowledge of National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS)
