    SALARY

    $26.124 - $41.495

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Collects and processes information and documentation pertaining to property damage and personal injury claims and accidents.

    Qualifications

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    * Receives and records telephone calls, statements and other pertinent information and/or documentation from the general public as well as from CTA personnel, relative to property damage and personal injury claims. Prepares reports, letters, forms and a variety of correspondence while maintaining related files.

    * Obtains information from CTA operations departmental personnel and the Chicago Police Department concerning incidents made on CTA properties or incidents involving CTA vehicles and/or personnel.

    * Supplies information to other law department sections.

    * Processes and settles small clams.

    * Performs field work as directed by supervision.

    * Performs other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    * Must have experience in office routine, and be competent in the collection, organizing and recording of data.

    * Required to possess a valid driver’s license.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    * Light physical effort required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    * Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to competently operate a personal computer to develop and maintain documents and reports using standard office software systems.

    * Required to possess a fundamental knowledge of claim terminology and theory.

    * Required to possess knowledge of the Chicago Metropolitan area in order to identify geographic locations.

    * Required to possess a fundamental knowledge of CTA system routes and facilities.

    * Must write and express oneself in a clear, logical and comprehensive manner.

    * Required to possess the proper temperament and disposition to maintain amiable relations with Authority personnel and outside contacts.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    * Usual office working conditions.

    * Occasionally works various hours as assigned.

    * Required to carry a pager twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Is subject to being called to duty at all times, including weekends and holidays.

    * Must list CTA as additional insured on auto insurance policy.

    * Exposed to existing weather conditions when in the field.

    EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, AND MATERIALS UTILIZED

    * Computer, (Microsoft Suite/Corel Office Suite word processing and spreadsheet functions), digital tape recorder, digital camera.

    **Additional Details:** Employees and/or union members will be given priority consideration in the hiring process, per the applicable labor contracts.

     

    Rate to be determined by applicant's entered service date and service date in union jurisdiction of this classification.
