    Global company searching for **Legal Counsel** to assist with environmental permitting, regulatory disputes, claim administration of complex indemnification and contractual obligations arising from litigation and environmental remediation, and ensure compliance with applicable environmental, sustainability and regulatory laws. Counsel will report to the Associate General Counsel and will be responsible for a broad array of tasks related to litigation and environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, including sustainability, and enforcement actions and claim assessment and management. Must be highly organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work well with personnel at all levels. Experience with environmental issues, permitting and regulatory compliance, insurance and indemnification claims, and accounting are all beneficial for this role.

    Essential Functions:

    + Provide legal advice on compliance with environmental and sustainability related statutes and regulations such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act.

    + Mange and advise on environmental permitting and negotiating permits with regulatory agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as well as regulatory enforcement actions with state and federal agencies.

    + Engage, oversee, direct and/or evaluate the performance and progress of outside counsel and experts representing the Company to ensure requisite expert advice is obtained when/as necessary with respect to environmental, regulatory and real estate matters.

    + Assess contractual indemnification obligations and provides management with recommendations regarding those claims, both offensive and defensive.

    + Review and evaluate indemnification and other demands for reimbursement; conduct internal investigation and review of such demands; manages such demands through conclusion.

    + Perform environmental due diligence for corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, identify environmental risks associated with properties and draft and negotiate relevant contract provisions.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate effectively, and build strong working relationships.

    + Analyze legal issues, identify risks, and develop strategies to protect company interests and counsel regarding environmental and regulatory compliance.

    + Other duties, as requested or directed by Associate General Counsel.

    Education:

    + Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school required.

    + Technical undergraduate degree or work experience in engineering or environmental sciences desired.

    Experience:

    + 6+ years experience practicing as a licensed attorney at a law firm, in-house or with the government; in-house experience preferred.

    + Experience with environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, litigation and environmental claim management strongly preferred.

    Required Skills, Abilities and / or Licensure:

    + Licensed member and in good standing of at least one state bar and eligible for admission on motion in Delaware required.

    + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to exercise business judgment and make recommendations.

    + Exceptional verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management.

    + Time management and organizational skills necessary to independently manage and appropriately prioritize workload, project management, and plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals.

    + Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.

    + Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
