    The role you'll contribute:

    Evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and manages a wide range of medical conditions. Prescribes medications, develops patient treatment options, interprets and verifies test results, and collaborates with other healthcare providers for continued education to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** **:

    A cardiac-vascular nurse practitioner's duties encompass a broad range of responsibilities aimed at delivering comprehensive cardiovascular care. These duties include performing in-depth cardiovascular assessments, diagnosing, planning, and treating medical conditions in collaboration with physicians and other members of the healthcare team. They are responsible for health education to patients and families, managing both acute and chronic illnesses through medications and other treatments, and monitoring for outcomes. Additionally, cardiac-vascular nurse practitioners interpret lab work data, radiology, and other test data, taking appropriate actions based on those findings.

     

    In their role, they are integral to pre- and post-procedural care for patients undergoing cardiovascular procedures, focusing on improving publicly reported data and other quality initiatives related to patient care. They provide self-directed, effective nursing care to groups of patients and are involved in the observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care. This includes health teaching and counseling of the ill, injured, or infirmed, and the promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness.

     

    Cardiac-vascular nurse practitioners are authorized to prescribe medication and treatments as per state laws, demonstrating proficiency in computerized physician order entry (CPOE) and serving as a resource to physicians, nurses, and other disciplines. They function in a collegial relationship with physicians and other health professionals in the delivery of health care services, able to make independent decisions in carrying out health regimens for patients with cardiovascular diagnoses. This role involves supervising cardiac stress testing, coordinating and initiating consults, reviewing and adjusting medications and dosages, providing patient education and comprehensive discharge planning, and ensuring smooth and timely patient throughput, including coordination of discharges and transfers. They also work closely with utilization review and multidisciplinary teams to optimize length of stay and deliver superior quality service, documenting and meeting criteria for evidence-based and quality outcomes.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED** **:

    Assures timely and accurate entries of medical histories, progress notes and treatment recommendations in the patients medical records.

     

    Assures all patient management documentation, including pharmaceutical modalities, as outlined in the patients medical record and signed by the supervising physician.

     

    Practices within the scope of each practice as delineated by education and training including but not limited to prescriptive privileges and in accordance with supervising physician guidelines.

     

    Refers patients for laboratory, x-ray and specialty care for needed services that cannot be provided at the practice.

     

    Assures that adequate patient health records are maintained and confidentiality is maintained under HIPAA regulations.

     

    Participates with supervising physician in a periodic review of the patients health records.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    Masters degree required.

    LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

    Active Florida ARNP License

     

    BLS, ACLS Certifications
