    The School of Engineering, Office of the Dean, seeks an **Associate Director of Development for Major Gifts** to raise private funds for the Stanford School of Engineering through personal contacts with individuals. Reporting to the Director of Development in the School of Engineering, the focus will be on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding alumni and friends capable of making gifts in the $500,000 - $9,999,999 range.

    In this role, you will:

    + Play a vital role in overall fundraising efforts for the School of Engineering.

    + Lead a wide range of fundraising activities, including providing stewardship, identifying new prospective donors and volunteers, and maintaining an active schedule of contacts (10-15 significant contacts per month).

    + Work with staff, including infrastructure partners, to advance university relationships and solicitations, work with key prospects and donors to identify development opportunities within the school/unit, and devise strategies for involving and soliciting external constituencies.

    + Develop solicitation goals, objectives, and strategies for development projects and/or specific donor populations or geographic regions. Occasional regional travel may be expected.

    + Manage an active portfolio, and track solicitation assignments and progress. Work with a portfolio of 150-180 assigned prospects to cultivate, solicit, and steward their support.

    + Develop and strengthen ongoing relationships with Engineering alumni and friends through personal visits and meaningful contacts, that will lead to gifts in the School of Engineering in the $250,000 - $9,999,999 range.

    + Enhance relationships between current and prospective major donors and the School of Engineering’s faculty, students, dean, staff and key volunteers.

    + Prioritize prospects, prepare background information, coordinate stewardship, and manage the fundraising cycle with assigned individuals.

    + Work closely with development colleagues in the Office of Development and other schools and units to coordinate prospect strategies and align program goals with the overall giving goals of the university’s development organization.

    + Maintain an active, current body of knowledge relative to Stanford Engineering and the university, including becoming acquainted with faculty, staff, and students who can be instrumental in advancing gift discussions.

    + Other duties may also be assigned.

    Education & Experience (Required):

    + Bachelor’s degree and eight years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Required):

    + Demonstrated effectiveness in prospect identification, relationship building, and solicitation.

    + Demonstrated experience mentoring and working with volunteers, faculty, and staff.

    + Superior written and oral communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to articulate a compelling case for philanthropic support programs.

    + Ability to translate complex concepts into compelling development proposals.

    + Ability to work effectively with faculty, top executives, and community leaders.

    + Demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace culture where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered.

    Education & Experience (Desired):

    + Familiarity with the high-tech industry and/or corporate relationships with higher education.

    Certifications and Licenses:

    + Must possess and maintain a valid California non-commercial Class C Driver's License.

    Working Conditions:

    + May require working flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Regular travel may be required.

    Physical Requirements:

    + Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, sit, and use a telephone, stand/walk.

    + Occasionally light/fine grasping, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, writing by hand.

    + Ability to drive day or night, if applicable.

    Work Standards:

    + When conducting university business, must comply with the California Vehicle Code and Stanford University driving requirements.

    + Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients and with external organizations.

    Pay Range:

    The expected pay range for this position is $166,712 to $195,120 per annum.

     

    Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
