Job Description

The **Maintenance Shift Supervisor** is the immediate frontline leader, reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager. This role is responsible for the successful execution of maintenance activities during their assigned shift, ensuring maximum equipment uptime and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Schedule

Second shift, 3:30pm-1:30am Sunday-Thursday.

Core Responsibilities:

+ **Shift Leadership and Delegation:**

+ Directly supervise, motivate, and assign tasks to all maintenance technicians on the shift (Levels 1-3).

+ Ensure all technicians adhere to company policies, including LOTO, GMPs, and sanitary work practices.

+ **Operational Coordination:**

+ Serve as the **primary maintenance point of contact for the Production Shift Supervisor** .

+ Prioritize and coordinate emergency repairs and breakdown responses based on immediate production needs.

+ Communicate equipment status and repair timelines clearly and professionally to the Operations Team.

+ **Work Execution and Documentation:**

+ Manage the execution of scheduled **Preventive Maintenance (PM)** and **Work Orders** using the CMMS.

+ Review and approve completed work orders, ensuring accurate data entry for labor, parts used, and technical notes.

+ Maintain accurate shift logs and conduct thorough shift-to-shift handoffs to the incoming supervisor and the Maintenance Manager.

+ **Technical Troubleshooting:**

+ Act as the “ **highest technical escalation point”** on the shift, assisting technicians with troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and control system failures (e.g., PLC faults, complex automation issues).

+ **Safety and Compliance:**

+ Conduct regular safety audits of maintenance work being performed.

+ Ensure the rapid and accurate identification and containment of any maintenance-related food safety issues, immediately escalating them to the Quality and Maintenance Managers.

Requirements

Education and Experience

+ Undergraduate degree (or equivalent combination of experience and education)

+ 2 to 5 years of maintenance or related experience coupled with demonstrated leadership aptitude, team lead experience, or supervisory experience

+ Experience leading and following safety policies and procedures

+ Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment; electrical, welding, boiler, refrigeration, compressed air, wastewater, or plumbing licenses or certificates preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

+ Strong knowledge of facility equipment

+ Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems

+ Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management

+ Able to lead and instruct others on the proper and safe procedures

+ Able to perform all required preventative, productive, predictive, and scheduled maintenance procedures

+ Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing

+ Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork

+ Able to think and use independent judgment in planning and organizing multiple tasks and information

+ Able to demonstrate initiative and follow through on day-to-day responsibilities

+ Able to adapt to changing operational needs and lead others through change

+ Able to select, coach, develop, engage, and retain a team of employees

+ Must be able to read, write and speak English
