Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to support the work of the Office of General Counsel and its legal services to the Department of Revenue in multiple areas including, litigation management, records management, personnel and tax litigation cases and other complex legal service areas. This work involves communicating with both internal and external stakeholders on litigation issues and other sensitive matters; developing, implementing, and maintaining processes to organize and coordinate complex Office of General Counsel projects and processes--including processes relating to management and processing of large datasets for litigations, discovery, subpoenas, or data requests; preliminary review of case records, preparing first drafts of litigation documents to support attorney legal work.
_This role is designated as an in-office position and requires full-time onsite attendance._
A writing assessment will be required as part of the selection process. Interviews for this position will take place in person.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Two years of experience providing legal support services in a law office, corporate legal department, government legal division, or similar.
+ Knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documents including those used in litigation and administrative actions.
+ Strong organizational skills sufficient to plan, coordinate and track activities for multiple high-volume legal specialty areas.
+ Experience analyzing, identifying, and implementing ways to establish and improve systems and processes.
+ Proficiency with legal case management systems and common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, document management tools).
Preferred Qualifications
+ Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify issues, evaluate options, recommend and implement solutions.
+ Proven ability to work effectively and respectfully with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, roles, and levels of authority.
+ One (1) year of customer service work experience communicating orally and/or in writing with customers in a legal setting.
+ Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritize tasks independently, and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
+ Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to draft clear, concise, and accurate correspondence.
+ Experience managing projects or case coordination, including tracking progress, anticipating needs, and taking ownership of outcomes.
+ Knowledge and experience with Minnesota Court systems and procedures.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, computer monitors, and other office items.
Additional Requirements
