JOB SUMMARY:
The Manager, Corporate Communications is an experienced corporate communications and public affairs professional who will be an essential part of the team that shapes and implements Universal Destinations & Experiences’ (UDX) corporate communications strategy, tactics and content. The Manager will apply communications, media relations and issues management skills to the business groups and key audiences they support. The Manager will find, create and tell compelling corporate-level stories and lead content development that promotes, enhances and protects the brand. This role will help the team position UDX as a global employer of choice, a premium destination for our guests and visitors world-wide, an industry leader and disruptor, and a strong community citizen. The Manager is an organized communicator, a storyteller, strategic thinker and dot-connector who excels in a fast-paced environment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Works with Director of Corporate Communications to build and execute public affairs, media relations, owned channel and content strategies to secure reputation-based coverage on topics such as community impact, government relations, diversity, equity and inclusion, sustainability, transportation, affordable housing, new products, content, ventures and other corporate initiatives that advance, promote and protect the UDX brand, including playing a role in issues management and crisis communications preparedness and response.
+ Seeks out compelling stories, leading and lead the planning and development for cross-functional corporate storytelling for a variety of audiences. This includes content creation – video, photo, digital and various written formats – in support of UDX’s Corporate Communications programming.
+ Proactively pitch and engage with local and national media to secure reputation-based coverage. Build and foster relationships with key external stakeholders including media, PIOs and community leaders, as well as internal partners at the local and global levels.
+ Support execution of external executive communication strategies for select leaders, including media and thought leadership opportunities.
+ Help establish a best-in-class approach to media measurement, monitoring and reporting that quantifies the effectiveness of programs and directly influences strategy and deliver impact to the organization. Assess, understand and leverage new technology and evolving communication methods.
+ Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
+ 5+ years of experience in communications, along with previous supervisory experience; Must display excellent judgement and confidence with executives and external stakeholders, as well as an ability to work in a fast-paced professional environment.
+ Must be a clear communicator able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
+ Experience with PR/Communications and web tools like Muck Rack, Sprinklr and WordPress is preferred.
+ Social media, graphic design, photography and video development a plus.
+ Event planning experience a plus.
+ ;or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
+ Experience working in a fast-paced environment, maintain organization over multiple projects.
+ Experience with influential national and local media.
+ Must have proven experience pitching media and engaging journalists with a track record of securing reputation-based coverage.
+ Proven skillset in measuring success and using research, data and insights to plan and execute communications plans in support of company initiatives.
+ Exhibits an aptitude for story-mining, writing and producing content aligned to corporate storytelling strategies and effectively measure the performance.
+ Skilled writer with an ability to tailor messages for various audience groups and in different formats, inclusive of press releases, website articles, blogs, newsletters, stories and more.
+ Proven ability to understand and distill complex information in order to simplify for external audiences.
+ Ability to effectively apply issues and crisis management capabilities to mitigate risk and organizational impact.
+ Competence in dealing with sensitive or controversial matters on a frequent basis.
+ Ability to be nimble and adapt, demonstrating effectiveness at handling multiple concurrent, often conflicting priorities.
+ Knowledge of executive and internal communications is a plus.
+ Ability to work collaboratively across global communication groups.
