Job Summary
The Technology Engineer is a direct report to the IT Infrastructure Real-Time Operations Supervisor within IT Engineering group with understanding of business goals, business processes, and technology expertise in one or more domains, technology solution design and implementation. The Technology Engineer is involved in the full technology life cycle and responsible for designing, coding, configuring, testing, implementing and supporting software, hardware and systems.
Job Responsibilities
+ Design, configuration, development, documentation and testing of technology solutions regarding a Windows server domain and infrastructure to meet business or technology requirements.
+ Evaluation of existing technology solutions to determine fit for purpose for the new business or technology requirements.
+ Recommendation of technology alternatives.
+ Collaboration with other individuals to ensure proper integration of the new technology solution with the existing technology solutions.
+ Partners with business analysts to translate business requirements to technology solution requirements.
+ Evaluates existing technology solutions and platforms and provides recommendations for improving technology performance by conducting gap analysis, identifying feasible alternative solutions, and assisting in the scope of needed modifications.
+ Creates process flowcharts, diagrams, drawings and other related documentation.
+ Creates technical workflows using different modeling techniques.
+ Ensures that the design and technology solution implementation meet security and QA standards.
+ Suggests fixes to issues by doing a thorough analysis of root cause and impact of any defect(s).
+ Creates technology solutions based on a disciplined process.
+ Works on tasks that require skills in multiple technical environments and knowledge of a specific business area.
+ Documents capabilities and any changes to new or existing components and associated test activities and test results.
+ Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022, etc.).
+ Apply security patches, Windows updates, and hotfixes.
+ Write and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation of routine tasks such as deploying server builds, patches, and configurations through automated workflows.
+ Monitor server health, performance, and availability using tools such as Windows Event Viewer, Performance Monitor, or third-party monitoring solutions.
+ Create, manage, and troubleshoot user accounts, groups, and organizational units in Active Directory.
+ Implement and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) for security and configuration management.
+ Manage access permissions and security policies.
+ Manage auditing, logging, and compliance requirements (NERC CIP, SOX, TSA, etc.).
+ Monitor server health, performance, and availability using tools such as Windows Event Viewer, Performance Monitor, or third-party monitoring solutions.
+ Proactively resolve server performance bottlenecks and outages.
Job Specific Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline i.e. STEM and at least 2 years of experience in Windows Server Administration. Without a degree, at least 6 years of experience in Windows Server Administration.
+ Demonstrated leadership capabilities through technology solution ownership and adoption, projects or other work experiences.
+ Participates in analysis of end-user needs and designs; may configure, develop and test low to medium complexity technology solutions to satisfy demand, gathers information to aid build versus buy analysis for business demand.
+ Partners with business analysts to translate business requirements to technology solution requirements of mostly low complexity technology solutions.
+ Demonstrated track record of implementing technology solutions using structured methodologies such as agile (SCRUM, Kanban etc.) and waterfall.
+ Ability to create both technical and non-technical end-user documentation.
+ Ability to work independently, multi-task effectively with attention to detail.
+ Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to learn new business and technical concepts
+ Strong oral, written communication, and facilitation skills
+ Strong leadership, technical teamwork and interpersonal skills
+ Ability to foster working relationships with the team, IT Management and Client departments,
+ Working knowledge of Transmission, Distribution, Gas Delivery, and NERC CIP specific areas including business process configuration and execution for those assigned domains
+ Department of Energy’s regulation 10 CFR 810 is required

+ Understanding financial principles as they apply to technology investments such as cost to achieve, cost to operate, depreciation, maintenance etc.
+ Experience with scripting and automation with the expectation that the candidate will be an active participant in the emerging automation culture that is present in our organization.
