• Lab Manager (Associate Scientist I)

    Duration: 12 months contract

    Job Description:

    + Responsible for supporting Process Chemistry and Engineering operations within the Pharmaceutical Products Group. The Lab Manager will work directly with organizing laboratory spaces, managing **chemical and equipment inventories,** and assisting department chemists in optimizing lab usage. The incumbent should possess working knowledge of **laboratory equipment** such as HPLC and apply this expertise to maintain efficient laboratory operations and support ongoing research activities.

    Responsibilities:

    + Maintain laboratories in clean, safe, functioning state. Transition the labs to be more efficient using the principles of 5S.

    + Maintain department shared instruments including UPLC’s and LCMS’s in working order through periodic routine maintenance.

    + Assist in relocation of equipment during ongoing lab renovations.

    + Manage **laboratory equipment and chemical inventories** including organizing periodic clean-outs.

    + Coordinate routine maintenance of isolators and other potent handling equipment and supplies of personal protective equipment for R14 potent lab.

    + Develop and maintain inventory system and periodic defrost cycles for department freezers.

    + Set up experimental apparatus as necessary

    + With some supervision, perform experiments to assist researchers

    + Create work aids for operating equipment and train new users.

    + Promote and enforce safe work practices in the laboratories.

    Experience:

    + Bachelor’s in chemistry or related field with laboratory experience.

    + Excellent written communication, oral communication, organization, and multitasking skills.

    Skills:

    + Working knowledge of HPLC is highly desirable.

    + Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

    Education:

    + Bachelor’s in chemistry or related field with laboratory experience.
