    At a Glance

     

    Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a n Electrical Engineering Intern to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Team in West Hartford, CT . In this role, the Electrical Engineering Intern will be responsible for assisting the Product Development Team in development and analysis of simple electronic designs and documentation . Functions include working with Design Engineers , Electrical Engineers, and Engineering Managers on assignments that support proof of concept designs, testing of products, maintenance of products, customer related issues and general electrical engineering challenges.

    Main Job Duties:

    • Design, build, analyze, and troubleshoot electrical components, sub - assemblies and products

    • Modeling and documenting design elements for engineering solutions

    • Creating testing environments for products, conducting the tests and documenting results

    • Reviewing product standards and updating as required

    • Working on manufacturing floor to solve design related issues

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Currently enrolled in , or recently , completed BS E lectrical E ngineering

    • College Junior or higher preferred

    Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

    • Creative approach to problem solving based on solid theoretical engineering skill.

    • Hands on experience on electrical lab tools such as oscilloscope, power supplies, function generation, etc. is preferred .

    • Breadboard & prototype PCB design experience is expected

    • Good theoretical background on transformer, AC system, and power electronics is a plus

    • Willing to provide engineering support required to sustain current product offering as well as evaluate new product designs. This includes performing product testing in the laboratory.

    • Understanding of electronic theories and electronic circuit design principles (digital, analog, mixed signal, power, high - speed, low - noise circuits and requirements)

    • Understanding of good EMC circuit design principles

    • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    • Must have an acceptable level of interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment.

    • Must be able to contribute to several projects at a time.

    • Prepare written and verbal reports.

    • Conduct engineering studies/investigations.
