    The Manager (Corps Area Housing Office) reports to the Associate Director of Residence Life and is responsible for the general administrative management of the Corps Area Housing Office operations which includes oversight of housing assignments, problem solving facility issues, management of key and card access, ensuring compliance with Residence Life policies and procedures, and providing for the smooth operation of customer service functions.     Responsibilities

    + COORDINATION/ADMINISTRATION: This role guides and manages Corps Housing operations, collaborating closely with the Associate Director of Residence Life and related offices. It oversees all administrative and operational activities within the Corps Area Office and works with the Administrative Coordinator to organize office functions. The position implements and enforces housing policies, assisting with contract compliance and ensuring facility rules are followed. Responsibilities include handling maintenance, custodial concerns, move-in/out procedures, summer camps/conferences, and other housing logistics. The role also manages space usage for various programs and ensures staff consistently provide excellent customer service.

    + SUPERVISION AND TRAINING: The position supervises, hires, and trains both the Administrative Coordinator and cadet Corps Housing Officers. It supports recruitment and evaluation processes for student assistants at the desk and is responsible for approving staff leave and timesheets. Works with HR to update job descriptions, ensuring all staff are familiar with their roles and sign documentation annually. Staff training is planned and delivered at the start of each semester and as needed throughout the year to keep roles and responsibilities clear.

    + SAFETY AND SECURITY: This role helps safeguard students and staff by coordinating risk management training and ensuring safety protocols are followed in Corps Area residence halls. It updates training manuals and manages key and card access for cadet housing. Routine safety procedures such as fire panel testing, fire drills, and inspections are conducted in collaboration with Environmental Health and Safety. Compliance is maintained by following up on inspections, managing necessary documentation, and carrying out sanction meetings when required.

    + COMMUNICATION: F acilitates communication with internal and external organizations to support Corps Area Housing operations. Regular meetings are attended to coordinate with other offices, departments, and agencies as needed. There is ongoing collaboration with Corps Operations and Training, as well as Corps Logistics, ensuring information flows efficiently between Residence Life and the Office of the Commandant.

    + STRATEGIC: Assists with both short-term and long-range planning for Corps Housing, including budget and operational plans that align with Residence Life goals. The position creates and updates policies and the Cadet Resident Handbook annually based on any changes. Plays a role in developing new procedures for Corps Area Housing and documents lessons learned each year to share and formalize agreements between Residence Life and the Office of the Commandant.

    + SPECIAL PROJECTS: Participates in departmental, divisional, and university committees, task forces, and work groups. Represents the department at campus and off campus events and promotes staff development and student leadership through meetings and programs. May take on professional duty shifts for Residence Life, staying accessible via cell phone for emergencies and operational needs. Responds as needed to ensure the effective functioning of the Corps Area Housing Office, including during after-hours or weekend emergencies.

    Qualifications

    Required Education & Experience:

    + Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.

    + Five or more years of related experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education or business administration.

    + Five or more years of experience in higher education or student housing.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    + Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

    + Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

    + Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.

    + Ability to use independent judgment and have strong critical thinking skills.

    + This position must have strong liaison skills.

    + Must have management/supervisory experience, and some property management.
