    Job Title: Instrumentation and Controls DesignerJob Description

     

    The role of an Electrical & I&C Designer involves preparing electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) drawings. The ideal candidate will be proficient with CAD design tools such as SMAP 3D Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, or other relevant drawing packages essential for creating detailed electrical plans, drawings, and design products.

    Responsibilities

    + Prepare detailed schematics, such as wiring diagrams and functional control logic diagrams (FCLDs), for electrical power and industrial control systems.

    + Develop cable design drawings, including schematics, physical layouts, BOMs, assembly notes, and views and projections.

    + Design for manufacture, installation, and testing of electrical systems.

    + Manage and schedule assigned work in support of multiple projects while working in a collaborative, multidiscipline engineering environment.

    + Identify issues and develop effective solutions during the design and implementation phases.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in CAD design tools like SMAP 3D Electrical and AutoCAD Electrical.

    + Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and design principles.

    + Experience with Industrial Controls Systems Design and Industrial Automation Systems.

    + Familiarity with ANSI Y14.100 and related drawing standards.

    + Familiarity with International Electronics Commission (IEC) standards and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in designing Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems is a strong plus.

    + Experience working on projects supporting the nuclear industry or other industries with strict QA programs such as NQA-1 is a strong plus.

    + Working knowledge of UL-508A is a strong plus.

    + Preferred experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems.

    + Preferred Associate’s degree in Drafting and Design or equivalent electrical design experience. A BS in Engineering or a related field is also acceptable.

    Work Environment

    The position involves 100% computer drafting, which could evolve to a hands-on shop floor environment as the program progresses. The role is onsite at a facility in Huntsville, AL, and requires presence during core hours every day. The team offers some flexibility.

    This is a Contract position based out of Huntsville, AL.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
