JobSummary: Responsibilities of this position include analyzing and processing invoices to ensure coding follows department’s capitalization policy. Creation and maintenance of projects in the Project Accounting system. Accounting activities include journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis and monthly and year-end closes. Compiling monthly transaction files to be uploaded Project Accounting & Fixed Assets systems. Responsibilities also include supporting internal & external audits, budgeting and forecasting.
This role currently has a hybrid schedule based out of our Westbury, NY office.
An employee in this position can expect an annual starting rate between $23 and $25 an hour depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.
WhatYouDo:
• Analyze, approve and process invoices to ensure coding follows Fixed Asset Capitalization policy.
• Participate in the monthly and year-end accounting closes.
• Create & maintain projects in the Project Accounting system and prepare monthly transaction files to be uploaded to Project or Fixed Asset Accounting system.
• Prepare Account Reconciliations and account variance analysis.
• Maintain internal financial records to Company standards (i.e. general ledgers, journal entries, etc.).
• Support external & internal audits.
• Prepare Annual Budgets and monthly forecasts.
• Assist with any ad-hoc projects.
• Complies at all times with the Standards, policies and Code of Business Conduct and Ethics set out in the Bookseller Handbook
Knowledge&Experience:
• Associate’s degree in Accounting
• 1-year related accounting experience required, with preferred knowledge of commonly used accounting concepts, practices and procedures.
• Proficient Excel & Word Skills
• Knowledge of Oracle Financial Systems is a plus.
• Must be a team player with ability to prioritize.
• Must possess strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Extremely detailed oriented, initiative-taking, independent worker.
