Scope of Job
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented graduate student to support the implementation of a grant focused on culturally informed approaches to grief and loss. This short-term position will primarily assist with planning and executing conferences, webinars, and events related to the grant, as well as providing general administrative and research support.
The Graduate Research Assistant will be supervised by the Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development , also PI of the grant.
+ Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of grant-related conferences, workshops, and community events.
+ Communicate with speakers, participants, and vendors to ensure smooth logistics and scheduling.
+ Support event promotion through email campaigns, social media, and flyer creation.
+ Manage event registration, materials preparation, and day-of logistics.
+ Assist with data collection, documentation, and reporting related to grant activities.
+ Conduct literature reviews and assist with research tasks as needed.
+ Attend team meetings and contribute to project planning and evaluation.
+ Perform other duties as assigned related to the grant’s objectives.
This is a grant-funded position for a assignment ending in January 31,2026. Compensation will be provided in accordance with university guidelines for graduate assistantships.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
+ Must be a currently enrolled graduate student at UTRGV .
+ Student can be in social work, related fields, or fields such as business, communications, etc.
+ Strong organizational and communication skills.
+ Experience with event planning or coordination preferred.
+ Interest in culturally responsive practices, grief and loss, or community engagement.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace; familiarity with Canva or similar design tools is a plus.
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferably Marketing, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Communications, Business Administration.
Salary$1,250 per month-20 hours a week
