    13631BRJob Description: U. S. Steel in Granite City, IL is seeking an Emergency Services Responder. This position requires you to respond to calls for service as well as emergency incidents within the facility using department adopted procedures which may include the operation of fire apparatus and equipment, or other means, as necessary. This job is within a heavy industrial environment and will be required to work within various areas of the Granite City Works facility.

    Job Responsibilities:

    + Inspection, testing and maintenance of fire extinguisher and fire protection systems

    + If assigned, act in a security role in a department issued response vehicle.

    + Work in hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy environments

    + Rotating shift work (some Saturdays and Sundays)

    + Must be able to maintain all certifications necessary to provide protection of the company’s employees and assets such as basic emergency medical services, firefighting, and hazardous materials response.

    Requirements:

    + High School Diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license required

    + State or National Licensed basic EMT

    + Certified Firefighter I or equivalent

    + Ability to handle stressful emergency situations

    + Ability to conduct investigations and document facts in a report format.

    Biweekly pay rate:

    Level 1 - $2,281.87

     

    Level 2 - $2,498.35

     

    Level 3 - $2,747.18
