    Position: Educational Sign Language Interpreter

     

    Start Date: December 1, 2025

     

    Schedule: 35 hours/week

     

    Duration: Through the end of the school year

     

    Pay Rate: $40–$45 per hour

    Position Overview:

    The Educational Sign Language Interpreter is a trained professional who facilitates communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others within an educational setting. Using American Sign Language (ASL), the interpreter ensures students have full access to classroom instruction, activities, and learning discussions.

    Minimum Requirements:

    + Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)

    + Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Interpreting, Deaf Studies, or a related field (preferred)

    + Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certification (required)

    + State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)

    + Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification (as applicable)

    + Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice

    + Current CPR certification (if applicable)

    + TB questionnaire, PPD test, or chest x-ray (if applicable)

    + Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

    + Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

    + Must be at least 18 years of age
