Job Title: American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time | In-Person or Remote
About the Role
Amergis is seeking skilled and compassionate ASL Interpreters to support students and staff by facilitating effective communication between Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing individuals and hearing individuals. This role is essential for ensuring accessibility and inclusion in educational settings.
Key Responsibilities
+ Provide accurate and culturally appropriate ASL interpretation in various settings (educational, meetings, events).
+ Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa during classroom instruction and school activities.
+ Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethics.
+ Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to meet communication needs.
+ Prepare for assignments by reviewing relevant materials and terminology.
Qualifications
+ Fluency in American Sign Language and English.
+ RID certification or EIPA score of 4.0 or higher required.
+ Minimum 1 year of ASL interpretation experience preferred.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Ability to work independently and adapt to various environments.
+ Reliable internet connection and equipment for remote assignments (if applicable).
Additional Details
+ Grade Levels: Primarily 6th and 7th graders.
+ Setting: In-person preferred; remote options available for some assignments.
+ Start Date: ASAP.
+ Interview Required.
