    Are you ready to make a real impact and ensure fairness in Colorado's gaming industry?

     

    The Division of Gaming is seeking a dedicated and skilled Criminal Investigator III to join our Gaming Enforcement unit. We are committed to upholding the integrity of limited gaming, keeping it free from criminal and corrupt elements.

    What You Will Do:

    As a Criminal Investigator III, you will serve as a peace officer, investigating and enforcing the Colorado Limited Gaming Act of 1991 and Colorado Revised Criminal Statutes. Your work will involve:

     

    + Conducting complex criminal and regulatory investigations.

    + Actively patrolling Colorado casinos.

    + Identifying and interviewing suspects and witnesses.

    + Collecting and evaluating evidence.

    + Performing comprehensive background and pre-licensing investigations.

    + Collaborating with other investigators and law enforcement agencies.

    + Providing training and outreach to stakeholders.

     

    This role requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to analyze financial records, and a commitment to justice. You'll be instrumental in preserving the peace and preventing illegal activities within the gaming industry.

    A2A4XX CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR III (https://dhr.colorado.gov/class-description-and-minimum-qualifications-for-a2a-criminal-investigators)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, criminology, criminal justice, criminalistics, political science, police science, law enforcement, law, psychology, sociology and two (2) years of relevant experience in conducting criminal investigationsin a law enforcement agency.

     

    * Required valid/active Colorado P.O.S.T. Certification at time of application

    OR

    Option 2: Six (6) years of relevant experience in conducting criminal investigations in a law enforcement agency.

     

    * Required valid/active Colorado P.O.S.T. Certification at time of application

    OR

    Option 3: A combination of related education in business administration, public administration, criminology, criminal justice, criminalistics, political science, police science, law enforcement, law, psychology, sociology, formalized apprenticeship program, certification, and/or relevant experience in conducting criminal investigations in a law enforcement agency equal to six (6) years

     

    * Required valid/active Colorado P.O.S.T. Certification at time of application

    Special Qualifications:

    + Applicants must successfully pass a background investigation and a tax check prior to appointment to positions in the Gaming Division.

    + Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License (at the time of application).

    + Applicants must be willing to work nights, rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and maintain on-call status while off-duty for emergency and supervisory response.

    + Applicants must successfully pass a Physical/Psychological Evaluation prior to being appointed to a position in the Gaming Division.

    + Must be able to qualify and maintain qualification with a firearm.

    + Must be able to certify and maintain certification in arrest control techniques.

    + Maintain a current/valid Colorado Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) certification at the time of application.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

    + Knowledge of Colorado rules and regulations related to Division of Gaming.

    + Regulatory investigative experience.

    + Outstanding candidates will have recent experience with: investigations interpreting and applying statutes and researching databases.

    + Additional years of experience in professional investigative and/or compliance experience in a regulatory environment.

    + Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    + Proven ability to work independently and accept supervision.

    + Proven success organizing and tracking workload.

    + Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.

    + Proficiency in Google-Workspace.

    Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence.

     

    As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations .
