Job Description
Job Summary:
A large automotive supplier is looking for experienced Development Engineers needed for design and development of a large OEM’s Instrument panels, door panels consoles and hard trim. You will be responsible for translating customer specifications and regulatory requirements into robust product designs that meet performance criteria. You will lead design reviews, define key product characteristics, and support validation activities throughout the development cycle. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure product and process robustness, manage geometry convergence, and drive continuous improvement. You will also support supplier engagement, tooling decisions, and production launch activities, contributing to technical documentation and lessons learned for future programs.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze customer product specifications and applicable regulations/ legislations for his perimeter on program.
• Define the product functional analysis (based on standard structure ) to translate customer specifications and internal requirements into clear product performance criteria.
• Drive design reviews for the part scope of responsibility and actively participate on project design reviews as per the PDL request.
• Identify and lead formalization of Key Product Characteristics. Participate actively in the DFMEA session for his scope of parts responsibility. (PDL is the DFMEA owner)
• Give the necessary inputs to the SPDE/PDE to ensure that the design meets defined performance. Support the SPDE/PDE with regard to specifications knowledge and product/process robustness as required. Involve and coordinate needed engineering function such as T&E and GTS to ensure the Product/Process robustness and Design to Manufacture approach for the given product scope of responsibility.
• Ensure consistency between GD&T (incl. Tolerance stacks) and process feasibility.
Define and approve (together with the PDE and the PTE) process related RPS features, according to the Geometry Convergence process. Ensure the definition and implementation of product and process poka-yoke features defined by PTE and/or PML.
• Lead the product validations (DVPhase2, DVPhase3 & PVPhase3) for his perimeter on program. Define, plan (with Testing/logistic Dept.), and follow product validation (CAE and physical tests). Define and implement the product improvements required to meet the specifications in line with the validation convergence process.
• Define BOP specifications and ensure robust development. Define KPC and RPS related tool requirements for BOP and internal tools. Support Make or Buy decisions. Review consistency between BOP specifications and suppliers commitments. Formalize Purchase Requests for BOP tool kick off and modifications. Support the ASQ in the supplier follow up for product design related issues.
• Lead system or sub-assembly geometrical conformity assessment according to the current version of the "Geometry Convergence Process" procedure (including checking fixture design validation (managed by PQL) and the measurement of sub-assemblies through the geometry center). (Note: single component geometrical conformity assessment is PTE responsibility and for final assembly it's PDL responsibility).
• According to simulation/validation/measurement results, define and implement necessary product geometry / interface improvements to meet specifications. Complete mock-up sheets for design improvement validation.
• Define engineering levels to be used by Plant during launch phase. Support the launch of production in the Plant.
• Organize, support and analyze Meisterbock activities (for the given perimeter). Define appropriate convergence plan to meet customer product audit objectives.
• Develop Lessons learned and Technical Report documentation as required by PMS Deliverables for potential implementation in FIS standards. Communicate the documentation to D&D team leader / GTS team.
