    Job Description

    Do you have an interest in aerospace and manufacturing? Do you have attention to detail? Do you have a tenacious desire to learn about electronics, components, and the materials that make technology operate and that support Space and National Defense? If you answered yes, then this may be the aerospace position for you!

     

    This is the front end of the Operations/Supplier Assurance where all the material enters the business, and you are a key part of the material verification process. You will ensure our suppliers are providing components and assemblies that meet BAE Systems, Inc. requirements, prevent malicious and counterfeit goods from affecting programs, and will help our nation and the warfighter by providing the best possible products.

     

    In this position, you will be exposed to different commodities, such as mechanical and electronic components, as well as manufacturing support items. You will learn about the systems that plan and control manufacturing, part specifications, engineering drawings, and how the aerospace supply chain operates. You will also become proficient at using a variety of measuring tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and digital multimeters.

     

    The Enterprise Assurance Strategic Capabilities Unit delivers critical assurance disciplines that protect and enable people, data and missions. We provide a comprehensive approach to managing risk across the enterprise for current and future information environments where the business and missions execute. We apply the use of innovative tools and robust processes to ensure mission and business success.

    What You ll Do:

    + Inspect incoming mechanical, electrical, and production material for conformance to purchase order requirements, engineering drawings, and specifications using visual, mechanical, and electrical test methods.

    + Perform basic dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers, feeler gages, etc.

    + Accept or reject materials or articles; identify and document non-conformance and notify appropriate personnel of potential rejection of items.

    + Refer/document unusual inspection problems to supervisor, lead, or Quality Engineer.

    + Apply/enforce/comprehend accept/reject criteria and revision status from engineering drawings, MIL-specs, screening specs, or process certification training.

    + Maintain inspection records by utilizing many different electronic information systems.

    + May be trained to detect counterfeit parts and prevent them from entering the manufacturing process.

    + Obtain and maintain all process certification required for assigned tasks.

    + Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

    + Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

    + Perform other duties as necessary.

    **On-Site Work Environment:** This position requires regular in-person engagement by working **on-site five days** each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

    Working Conditions:

    + Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

    + May also perform functions in various work centers and different shifts, as needed.

    + Work may also be performed in other parts of the campus in various work centers and environments.

    + Please note this position may require training at other campuses for the first few months.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

    + High School diploma or equivalent plus 1 or more years of related experience.

    + Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor s or Master s, may substitute for years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

    + Solid problem-solving ability and good mechanical aptitude.

    + Proficiency using Windows and common Microsoft Office applications.

    + Ability to understand and consistently follow work instructions and checklists.

    + Good physical dexterity and coordination to safely handle parts, color vision/discrimination, and visual acuity for small details (usage of microscopes, etc.)

    + Ability to communicate effectively as well as frequently bend, stand, walk, and lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

    + Knowledge of Inspection tools for measuring commodities.

    + Mechanical or Electronic parts experience.

    + Solid computer skills.

    + Familiarity with Drawings and schematics.

    + Comfortable in teamwork environments.

    + Solid communication skills.

    Pay Information

     

    Full-Time Salary Range: $46680 - $74687

     

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
