    Summary This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Southwest Region in Albuquerque, New Mexico (Duty Station: Towaoc, Colorado). In this position you will serve as the Supervisory Social Worker for the Southwest Region's Division of Human Services, Ute Mountain Ute Branch of Social Services to develop and implement plans for comprehensive human services in the service areas of Towaoc and White Mesa, Colorado. Responsibilities Providing oversight to the administration, development, execution and evaluation of the Branch of Social Services. Preparing annual program budgets, revising to confirm to program activities, needs, and budgetary constraints. Coordinating and consulting with agencies at the tribal, local, state, and national level for the purpose of developing and delivery of social services. Assigns and reviews work performed by subordinates, assures that maximum achievement and production levels are maintained. Serves as the Awarding Official Technical Representative for tribal domestic violence, Indian Child Welfare Act, and emergency youth shelter grants and/or contracts. Develops and maintains close working relationships with tribal, county, state, federal, public and private programs and resources. Provides technical assistance in the development and administration of protective service and child protection teams. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Professional and Scientific Positions and Individual Occupational Requirements for GS-0185, Social Work Series). BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Degree: Social Work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the MASTER'S DEGREE in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: In addition to meeting the basic qualification requirement listed above, applicants must have the following specialized experience: GS-13: Qualifying is one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes work involving applying practical knowledge of a wide range of social casework, family therapy, systems theory and community organization; direct provision of child welfare services, maintaining active agency participation in the varied advocacy and intervention programs and the coordination of and required cooperation with allied social services, health and other agencies; providing counseling services; developing and maintaining a formalized case management system which documents the workflow of case services with individual case plans; provides technical assistance on all aspects of social services programs and activities; and develops and supports program budget matters. The probationary or trial period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, the agency will consider: your performance and conduct; the needs and interests of the agency; whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service. Under applicable law, the employment of an individual serving a probationary or trial period automatically terminates when that period ends unless the agency affirmatively certifies, in writing, that the individual's employment should continue and that their appointment should be finalized. In the absence of agency action to affirmatively certify continued employment beyond the probationary or trial period, such appointments are terminated. Upon completion of your probationary period -OR- trial period your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest. This is a supervisory position. Under provision of the Civil Service Reform Act, first-time supervisors are required to serve a one year supervisory probationary period before their appointment becomes final. Those who do not satisfactorily complete this probationary period will be returned to positions of no lower grade and pay than those they occupied before assuming their supervisory assignment.
