The LTE Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist is involved in teaching of the patient and family and community. Acts as a consultant and resource person for staff. Is involved with development of clinical pathways and protocols related to care of patient. This position is expected to last 8 weeks.

Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in dietetics or food nutrition or a bachelor’s degree in nursing
+ OR other bachelor’s degree or master’s degree as accepted by the NCBDE (National Certification Board of Diabetes Educators) to obtain CDE credential
Experience:
+ 2-3 years related experience
+ Individual and group teaching experience
+ Developing and evaluating patient educational materials
+ Working with patient’s nutritional needs for diabetes and related to co-morbidities
Certifications/License:
+ Certification by the state of Wisconsin – Department of Registration and Licensing for the Registered Dietitian (C.D.)
+ OR current license by the State of Wisconsin – Registered nurse
+ Current certification in Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist OR completion of certification within 9 months of hire
