    Faculty Position in Transfusion Medicine

    The candidate must be Board Certified in Clinical Pathology and Fellowship trained in Transfusion Medicine. Additional fellowship training in a related subspeciality such as Tissue Antigen, Hematopathology, Molecular Pathology, Clinical Chemistry or Informatics is welcome, but not required.

     

    The selected candidate will join a collegial group of Clinical Pathologists and participate in a robust clinical service that includes transfusion support for adult and pediatric hospitals, an apheresis service, and consultative support for patient blood management and coagulation. There is the potential to develop a cellular therapy service for oncology.

     

    The faculty member will participate in all teaching activities of pathology residents, fellows, and medical students. Responsibilities also include participation in intra- and inter-departmental conferences, service on departmental and institutional committees, and contribution to clinical or translational research. Opportunities are available to pursue independent scholarly interests, collaborate with investigators across UTMB, and present work at national and international meetings.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    The person in this position will be responsible for consulting with other pathologists and physicians in blood management, coagulation, and apheresis services and participating in the call schedule for the Blood Bank.

     

    The faculty member will participate in all teaching activities of the pathology residents, fellows, and medical students. This individual will also be responsible for participating in intra- and inter-departmental conferences and participate in departmental and institutional committees. The faculty member will also be responsible for advancing clinical knowledge through his/her scholarly and research efforts by participating in either basic research or clinical research, the publication of scientific articles, and presenting at national and international meetings.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + MD, MD/PhD or DO degree with Texas Medical Licensure

    + Board Certified in Clinical Pathology

    + Fellowship trained and Board eligible in Transfusion Medicine

    + US Citizenship or Employment Authorization

    SALARY:

    Commensurate with experience.
