    FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Bilingual Education in the Department of Childhood, Bilingual and Special Education within the School of Education with a starting date in August 2026.

The Department of Childhood, Bilingual, and Special Education (CBSE) at Brooklyn College prepares teachers to effectively serve diverse learners in urban settings. Grounded in social justice and the belief that all children can learn, our programs develop skilled educators with strong pedagogical knowledge and effective teaching practices who integrate research, theory, and practice. We emphasize preparation for teaching bilingual students and students with special needs, fostering culturally responsive, reflective teachers who are attuned to their students, families, and communities. Our programs also equip teacher candidates with equity-focused approaches to computing education, digital and AI literacies, enabling them to design and evaluate curricula that integrate computational thinking, digital literacies, and AI applications across content areas, and leverage technology to build on bilingual students’ strengths. Through extensive fieldwork and student teaching experiences, our programs also promote career readiness by bridging theory and practice and ensuring that candidates are well prepared to meet the realities of diverse classrooms.
