About the Role:
Acting as Owner's Rep./Project Manager, the candidate shall manage the design &
pre-construction of HV/MV electrical substations for large hyperscale data centers across
North America. The candidate will be responsible for managing the design process from the
substation basis of design stage through issuance of construction drawings. This includes
building matrixed design teams from Owner internal design and external design services
partners/providers, facilitating the creation of a shared plan for the execution, and oversight of
construction administration services provided by the external design team in support of
construction activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HV/MV
substation design, HV/MV electrical equipment and system modeling, building construction
and/or design, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate will be
managing client-approved electrical and structural engineering design consultants in the
design of data center substations. The Candidate shall be familiar with facilitating "page-turn
design reviews" and substation equipment fabrication reviews at 30%, 60%, and 100% levels of
completion.
What You'll Do:
• Author a Design and/or Design and Build scopes of work for Substation contracts and
gain buy-in from internal stakeholders;
• Manage proposal reviews, and issue and administer contracts and contracts award;
• Facilitate planning and kickoff workshops with internal & external stakeholders;
• Facilitate design reviews in partnership with external partners;
• Facilitate large scale workshops as necessary;
• Define and track deliverables from various parties;
• Track of cost, schedule, progress and scope;
• Provide health reporting on cost, schedule, scope and progress;
• Build optimal design teams from matrixed internal stakeholders and the strategic
procurement of external partners;
• Change management for project scope and design contracts;
• Facilitate technical decisions in-line with project needs;
• Coordinate design activities with procurement and construction;
• Provide clear and transparent communication with all internal stakeholder and external
partners;
• Ensure the issuance of engineering information to the right party, at the right time, in
the right format
• Support in design risk evaluation, risk management and budget control throughout the
product life cycle
• Monitor and track proposal and contract schedules and generate weekly progress
reports
• Support contract negotiation, typically in concert with the Owner PM and legal counsel,
including establishment of all GC “business terms" including mark-ups, fees, insurance,
labor rates, escalation, etc
• Provide / gather cost estimates working with subs and other vendors for scope gaps
and changes.
• Ensure QA/QC process is being followed and report any issues/gaps
• Assist in scheduling, coordination and management of all owner-direct vendors
• Support evaluation of product readiness for Substation and travel to meetings as
required.
What You'll Need:
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
• Professional licensure (PE) is preferred
• Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or LEED AP preferred
• 5+ years experience with Substation delivery and / or mission critical facilities
• Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
• Strong understanding of construction principles and practices
• Experience and general knowledge of cross discipline teams: structural, civil,
IT/Telecom, security, mechanical, architectural
• Self-motivated with the ability to analyze and resolve issues promptly
• Ability to forecast and prepare budgets and schedule
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to stay focused on multiple projects
throughout various development phases.

• Experience in the preparation of project plans, specifications
• Experience drafting scopes of work
• Experience of government regulations
• Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
