The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join their team. Under the general guidance of Drs. Jason DeBruyne and Chris Ehlen, the incumbent will be responsible for independently designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments related to sleep neurobiology, especially at circuitry level, as well as providing training of staff/students as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a doctoral degree (PhD or MD) in neuroscience, molecular biology, cell biology, or other relevant areas of biomedical sciences.
All applicants should have peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience with using modern mouse genetics in neurobiology of behavior.
2. Solid foundation of both knowledge and techniques used to identify neurocircuitry mechanisms.
3. Experience with mouse behavior/sleep EEGs, stereotactic injections, AAVs, and imaging are all pluses but not required.
4. A working knowledge/prior research in mammalian sleep neurobiology is a strong plus.

Job Duties
Description of Job Duty
Serve as a senior, top-level contributor in research activities under the mentorship of the Principal Investigators.
Independently manages research projects, from inception to completion and reporting.
Responsible for designing and performing research experiments, collecting and analyzing data produced.
Presents data in the form of weekly updates and other formats (including but not limited to scientific conferences and publications)
Will develop new research/experimental areas, including potentially research projects independent of the main goals of the lab (with permission and consultation from the Principal Investigators).
Develops complex techniques and teaches these procedures as needed. Supervises any students assigned to help with various research project tasks.
May provide consultation and expertise on other complex projects and is a high-level scientist.
Will provide training and mentoring to students working in the lab, providing by conceptual and technical training.
May apply for grant funding for independent projects, as applicable.
