    AWS Security's Detective Tooling group is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE) to build systems that ensure the security of all our services. We are building automated testing and detection capabilities that scale seamlessly. As an SDE on the team, you'll build services that solve complex, ambiguous problems at the scale of the entire AWS cloud. Our team owns security solutions used throughout the company. You will lead the design and implementation of highly scalable and available services from end-to-end, while raising the bar for quality and delivery through mentorship of other engineers on the team and across the organization. This is a highly visible role within a prominent program at AWS that provides significant opportunities to think big and deliver secure solutions for our customers.

    Key job responsibilities

    Senior SDEs on the team lead the technical direction and strategy for the service, including the design of architecture and code. They create working software which delivers simple solutions to complex problems, from prototype through delivery.

     

    A day in the life

     

    As a member of the Detective Tooling group, you will be hands-on in writing production-grade codewhile designing and implementing scalable solutions for AWS-wide security challenges. Your day-to-day responsibilities include developing and maintaining critical security services that operate at AWS scale. You will perform meaningful and timely code reviews while coaching and mentoring team members. Regular collaboration with team members is essential as you work to identify process improvements and define best practices across the organization. Your expertise will be valued as you provide critical feedback on architecture and design decisions made by other teams. Additionally, you will partner with stakeholders across AWS Security to align on security priorities and implementation approaches.

    Basic Qualifications

    - 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

     

    - 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

     

    - 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

     

    - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

    Preferred Qualifications

    - 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

     

    - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
