Job Title: Controls Engineer

Job Description

This position involves taking on controls engineering responsibilities at a manufacturing facility with seven production lines. The facility mainly operates on legacy PLC-5 systems using Allen Bradley software. The role requires writing new code, adjusting existing code, and troubleshooting production issues. An understanding of process controls is crucial as the facility uses HMI/SCADA software to monitor processes and levels. The company produces rubber and plastic pellets for plastics companies.

Responsibilities

+ Develop and maintain control logic by creating and modifying programs for automated systems using ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured text.

+ Diagnose and resolve issues involving motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and control panel wiring to ensure reliable operation.

+ Engineer and implement control strategies for both new installations and upgrades to existing process equipment.

+ Build and configure operator interface screens using Wonderware InTouch and/or Ignition for effective process monitoring and control.

Essential Skills

+ 5+ years of experience in a controls engineering position.

+ Proficiency in writing code using Allen Bradley for PLC5s.

+ Understanding of HMI/SCADA used in process controls, preferably WonderWare or Ignition.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with PLC programming, SCADA, and HMI design.

+ Familiarity with Wonderware and Ignition for HMI development.

Work Environment

The position is based in a plant where you can choose to work either a 7-3 or an 8-5 schedule. If you have strong technical skills, there is potential for a hybrid work arrangement. There is minimal to no travel required, and the schedule is set from Monday to Friday.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Whitmore Lake, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
