Job Title: QC Laboratory TechnicianJob Description
Responsible for testing samples received into the Quality Control (QC) laboratory, including raw materials, in-process samples, and packaged final products. Utilize various instrumentation such as Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), Gas Chromatography (GC), Auto-titrators, and coulometric titration. Additional equipment such as pH meters, ovens, balances, burettes, and calculators are also used.
Responsibilities
+ Contribute to the efficient running of the laboratory by helping with infrastructure duties such as restocking of supplies, cleaning of glassware, disposing of samples, and managing sample retains.
+ Enter laboratory data into the LQM database and run interim and final reports to release samples for production use.
+ Standardize equipment prior to use and ensure proper calibration and functionality.
+ Perform routine and specialized testing on samples based on established priorities and procedures.
+ Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including ICP, GC, spectrophotometers, balances, and related systems.
+ Accurately document and record test data in both written and electronic formats, including entry into the LQM database.
+ Communicate any out-of-specification results to Operations promptly.
+ Maintain lab cleanliness and organization by following 5S and housekeeping standards.
+ Participate in safety programs including Behavior-Based Safety (BBS), conduct safety inspections, and act as a First Aid responder.
+ Report near-misses and safety events in the SIMS system and assist with incident investigations.
+ Train others in routine test methods and support cross-training initiatives.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in Acid-Base Titration.
+ Strong math skills for frequent calculations.
+ Ability to interpret results and troubleshoot discrepancies, distinguishing between test errors and sample issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (BA or BS required).
+ Biology degree with a Chemistry minor may be considered.
+ Basic understanding of qualitative and quantitative analysis.
+ Strong teamwork and communication skills.
+ Ability to navigate and resolve conflicts.
+ Collaborative mindset to fit into a supportive team environment.
Work Environment
Work in a lithium plant's industrial laboratory, which is an older facility. The QC laboratory area is slightly crowded, with numerous benches and equipment. Seasonal temperature changes occur due to multiple fume hoods working alongside the air conditioning. Multiple people work in the laboratory simultaneously, requiring teamwork and cooperation. Time management and multi-tasking are essential as sample analysis time is closely monitored. Night shift positions are available: Position 1: 4 PM – 2 AM (Sun–Wed), Position 2: 8 PM – 6 AM (Wed–Sat). Training schedule includes initial weeks of daytime hours.

This is a Contract position based out of Bessemer City, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
