    The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Lab Manager for our Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) Program. The Lab Manager's primary responsibility is to support the Director of UAS Education and Research in providing operational oversight of the UAS Program. They will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the UAS research and development laboratory, managing resources, and supporting the program's overall success. This includes coordinating all ground, flight, and logistical operations, as well as planning and implementing UAS training and operations including safe and legal operation of the aircraft, crew resource management, customer coordination, systems procurement, and all maintenance of the aircraft and associated systems.

     

    The ideal candidate will have a professional demeanor, strong work ethic, and eagerness to expand a growing program. This individual will be comfortable working with an experimental program, able to voice recommendations for modernizations, and flexible enough to adapt to changing needs in mission tasking.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    + Bachelor's degree

    + Teaching experience (Certified Flight Instructor I and II, Higher Education)

    + Photogrammetry, photography, videography experience

    + Experience with flight controllers with Ardupilot, PX4 and QGroundControl software

    + FAA sUAS Remote Pilot Certification

    Preferred:

    + FAA Title 14 CFR Part 61 Pilot Certificate

    + Graduate degree

    + Experience with curriculum writing in higher education

    + Completed UMA's UAS Certificate Program

     

    Salary: The normal hiring salary range for this position is in the low to mid-50s and is commensurate with training, education, and experience and will take into consideration the salary of current UMS employees for transfer/promotion.
