Description

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our team on a contract basis in Garland, Texas. In this role, you will manage customer accounts, ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances while maintaining accurate records and resolving payment discrepancies. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams to optimize processes and achieve collection goals.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of business-to-business customer accounts to ensure timely payments and minimize outstanding balances.

• Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, including short payments and unapplied cash, by working closely with the billing and cash application teams.

• Escalate unresolved collection issues to the appropriate supervisor for further action.

• Maintain detailed and accurate records of collection activities within the company's accounting system.

• Collaborate with sales and finance teams to address customer disputes and refine billing processes.

• Monitor customer payment behavior to evaluate credit risks and recommend adjustments to payment terms when necessary.

• Assist with month-end close procedures by reconciling accounts receivable balances and providing detailed reports on collection status.

• Contribute to team goals by managing priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business-to-business collections or accounts receivable within a high-volume environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems such as JD Edwards or similar platforms.

• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to resolve disputes effectively.

• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in managing financial records.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.

• Knowledge of commercial collections and billing processes is highly desirable.
