As a Staff Structural Engineer in our Northwest based Ports and Maritime Group, you’ll have the chance to work with our global multi-disciplinary team of Professional Engineers on waterfront and transportation projects worldwide. You’ll be involved as part of the close-knit team performing design, analysis, and delivery of projects ranging from local marinas to large scale international port developments.
We’ll provide you with tasks associated with performing the analysis and design of both rehabilitation and retrofit projects, as well as new marine structures and facilities. We are looking for a candidate that is driven and eager to expand their knowledge and experience in structural engineering and will provide an environment with Subject Matter Experts and senior engineers to mentor and guide you through one of the fastest expanding disciplines in engineering. You will work on piers, wharves, transfer bridges, gangways, bulkheads, breakwaters, floating docks and marinas made from steel, aluminum, concrete, earth and timber. You will perform calculations in accordance with ASCE, AASHTO, ACI, AISC, IBC, NDS and PIANC and be expected to present calculation packages using Excel, MathCAD, and a range of finite element modelling programs (SAP2000, STAAD, RISA, LPile, etc.). This field and position will challenge you and continue to provide new and interesting engineering problems to solve. Our regional team’s portfolio currently contains projects in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, South America and remote locations in the South Pacific.

Hybrid home/office work schedule. Location may be in Washington, Oregon, or Alaska.
Key Responsibilities
•Assist in the design and analysis of marine structures, such as piers, wharves, docks, and seawalls.
•Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
•Collaborate with Senior Engineers and Project Managers to develop innovative solutions for complex engineering challenges.
•Conduct site inspections and assessments to evaluate the condition of existing marine structures, perform on-site QA/QC tasks, or perform data collection activities.
•Support the preparation of project proposals, material take offs, and engineer’s cost estimates.
•Assist in the design and analysis of marine structures, such as piers, wharves, docks, and seawalls.

•Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
•Strong interest in marine and waterfront engineering.
•Basic knowledge of structural analysis and design principles.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and PDF Software (i.e. Bluebeam, Adobe, etc.)
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
•Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Ideally, you'll also have:
•Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
•Experience drafting design drawings using AutoCAD.
•1-5 Years experience, internship or co-op experience in structural engineering.
•Knowledge of port marine and landside infrastructure, operations is a plus.
•Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (i.e. AASHTO, ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBS, NDS).
•Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software (i.e. SAP2000, RISA3D, STAAD, LPile, etc.)
