Job Summary:
The Sr. Manager, Tool Installation leads the end-to-end planning, execution, and continuous improvement of tool installation projects for a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for overseeing multiple project teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and driving operational excellence in safety, quality, cost, and schedule. The Sr. Manager acts as a strategic partner to cross-functional leaders, mentors direct reports, and fosters a culture of innovation and accountability.
Essential Duties:
Functional Leadership & Operations:
+ Guide the integration of design, engineering, and vendor requirements into executable installation plans.
+ Review and approve design documentation for constructability, utility connections, and compliance with facility standards.
+ Champion the adoption of digital construction tools (e.g., BIM, Procore, Navisworks) for enhanced coordination and clash detection.
+ Oversee the preparation and review of work packages and RFPs, ensuring alignment with technical, cost, and schedule objectives.
+ Lead contractor selection, bid evaluation, and performance management.
+ Manage equipment logistics to land equipment per project timeline requirements.
+ Monitor and control project timelines and budgets, identify cost reduction opportunities, approve scope changes, and support funding requests.
Strategic Alignment & Continuous Improvement:
+ Develop and implement strategies for project delivery, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.
+ Serve as the primary escalation point for project challenges, ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder alignment.
Team Development & Knowledge Sharing:
+ Lead and mentor a team of Construction Managers, Project Coordinators, and other professionals in the execution of complex tool installation projects.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
+ As part of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) team, coordinate cross-functionally within the EPC Team, Base Build construction contractors, Panasonic equipment engineering, equipment vendors, etc. to align installation schedules with design, procurement and execution timelines to meet target start of production (SOP) dates.
+ Partner with Production/Operation and Engineering teams to ensure equipment installation supports manufacturing readiness.
+ Work closely with Safety and Quality teams to integrate compliance standards into installation processes.
+ Collaborate with Finance and Cost Control teams to monitor and control budgets and approve installation-related expenditure.
+ Engage with Supply Chain and Logistics to manage delivery schedules to minimize cost and delays in equipment arrival.
Quality, Safety, Compliance, & Risk Management:
+ Oversee the preparation and review of work packages and RFPs, ensuring alignment with technical, cost, and schedule objectives.
+ Lead contractor selection, bid evaluation, and performance management.
+ Monitor project budgets, approve scope changes, and support funding requests.
+ Ability to work on-site and comply with all PPE and safety requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
+ Leads the Panasonic Tool Installation team and Tool Installation Contractors through both direct supervision and indirect influence.
Travel Requirement:
+ This position may require up to 20% domestic travel.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
+ To ensure health and safety in the workplace and for employee protection, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. A respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education:
+ **Required:** Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related technical field
+ **Preferred:** Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration
Essential Qualifications:
+ 8+ years of progressive experience in industrial construction or tool installation, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing teams and large-scale projects (e.g., manufacturing, semiconductors, data centers, or similar high-tech sectors).
+ Advanced proficiency in interpreting construction drawings, schedules, and budgets.
+ In-depth knowledge of MEP systems, cleanroom construction, and manufacturing facility infrastructure.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
+ Effective communicator with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
+ Proficient in project management and construction coordination software.
+ Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English

Preferred Qualifications:
+ 12+ years of relevant experience, including direct oversight of multi-million-dollar projects and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Certification(s):
+ Project Management Professional (PMP)
+ Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
+ OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
+ Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher)
+ HAZWOPER 40-Hour Certification
+ NFPA 70E Certification
