    The Opportunity:

    The Senior Die Cutting Operator (Working Lead) is responsible for set-up and proper operation of Bobst sheet-feed Die Cutting Equipment, promoting and maintaining safe work environments, performing make-ready, operation of, and producing customer focused products, with the ability to troubleshoot problems on Cutting Equipment, and mentor apprentices. Assists in pre-make ready, preventive maintenance, and is responsible for producing quality products to customer specifications as aligned to production schedules.

     

    * Be trained to identify visual evidence of Tooling (Die, Spot Sheet, Counter Plate, Stripper, Blanker) Failures, inspect and disposition proper routing of Tooling for the following: Re-Knife, Repair, Replacement or Return to inventory all Tooling that has completed production in the previous 24 Hour production cycle.

    * Postproduction Tooling Inspection (All Tooling in a 24 hour period that has completed Production across all Cutters)

    * Work with and support Operators in Make-Ready during instances of Tooling failures (Future learnings and Corrections)

    * Work with Pre Make-Ready Employees on improved Pre-Production Tooling Inspection and Functional Roles

    * Tooling Inventory Improvement and Management

    * Operate Production Equipment during moments of high Production demand (when other responsibilities are caught up only)

    * Die Cutting Improvement Projects - Continuous Improvement/New

    * Receives, complies with, and applies all trained processes related to Job Title. Including bi-lateral communication, active engagement in Daily Management Systems (DMS), promoting and maintaining Teamwork dedication to a Safe and Quality oriented environment.

    * Correctly interprets job/product/technical specifications, and information required to operate, and maintain WestRock Equipment, while ensuring safety, quality, and production processes followed.

    * Responsible for make-ready of scheduled production Jobs/Orders per customer specifications; makes adjustments to various aspects of the equipment in order to accommodate change over to new/next production Job/Order (sets up all aspects of the equipment to perform within specification required to produce quality product).

    * Inspects quality of each Die Cut WIP (Work in Process) load produced; is responsible for checking random sheets from each cut load to ensure and maintain quality to customer specification.

    * If cutting defects are encountered; ends production until defect is corrected, removes cutting generated defects from good product, gets deposition of non-conforming product and tags non-conformity; troubleshoots machinery and makes proper corrections to continue processing the Job/Order.

    * Maintains accurate written records of production by recording production and all Job/Work related information in compliance with WestRock Marion Document Control processes.

    * Operates Die Cutting equipment to achieve maximum quality production throughout job processes; consistently achieving excellent performance during make-readies and production runs while minimizing downtime in order to meet Facility, Departmental, and Machine Goals/Metrics.

    * Utilizes Powered and Unpowered Industrial Trucks/Equipment to handle material to and from Die Cutting Equipment.

    * Performs preventive maintenance duties on Die Cutting equipment as necessary.

    * Trains, Mentors, and directs Die Cutting Apprentice personnel in cutting processes, operation, and troubleshoot skills.

    * Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules, security procedures and instruction and direction of Department Manager, Shift Supervisors, and other WestRock Leadership.

    * Performs all duties according to established safety policy, including wearing all required PPEs to perform duties, tasks, job functions while in Production Area.

    * This position will help keep the department within the specifications of all 5S and SQF guidelines, and immediately report any food safety concerns to management.

    * Performs other duties as requested by Supervisor or Management.

    * Failure to comply with any/all WestRock Regulations, Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions will result in Coaching/Counseling/Corrective processes up to and/or including discharge of employment.

    What you need to succeed:

    * 1 to 2 years of work-related experience in a die cutting manufacturing environment preferred.

    * Computer skills (including fundamental use of Windows Operating System, Email, Word Processors).

    * Excellent oral and written communication skills to include effective listening.

    * Problem solving and troubleshooting ability.

    * Excellent attendance

    * Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

    * Mechanical aptitude.

    * Moderate to strong math skills, including understanding of measurements.

    * Manages time and sets priorities for tasks.
