    The **Undergraduate and Student Success Senior Professional** supports the undergraduate academic program and its applied learning mission for the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. This position coordinates daily operations of the undergraduate program and its applied learning and research opportunities by providing guidance to students, faculty, and staff while managing program logistics and ensuring compliance with university policies and administrative requirements.

     

    Collaborating closely with faculty, staff, and other campus partners, the Undergraduate and Student Success Senior Professional advances the department's undergraduate initiatives, fosters student engagement and retention, and strengthens applied learning and research opportunities. Exercising independent judgment, this role develops resources, implements initiatives, and improves operational effectiveness to enhance the overall undergraduate experience and promote a collaborative environment for students, faculty, and staff.

    Who We Are

     

    The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience has approximately 43 tenured/tenure-track faculty and 12 teaching faculty. We offer separate bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Neuroscience to 3,700+ undergraduates and PhDs in 5 specialty graduate program areas (Behavioral Neuroscience; Behavioral, Psychiatric, and Statistical Genetics; Clinical Psychology; Cognitive Psychology; and Social Psychology). We encourage cutting edge and collaborative research that transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries, while maintaining a firm footing in psychology and neuroscience.

     

    What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

    Undergraduate Research Program Operations and Success

    + Coordinates opportunities for undergraduate students to engage in faculty-led or curriculum-based research or applied experiences by maintaining information on available research and assisting with placement logistics.

    + Provides students with guidance on timelines, applications, and basic requirements for research participation, and refers complex or unique cases to faculty or senior staff as appropriate.

    + Maintains resources for research funding opportunities, assists students in navigating application steps, and tracks outcomes to support departmental reporting.

    + Collaborate with Academic Advising staff, faculty, and the Associate Chairs for Undergraduate Education to identify and implement strategies that enhance student retention, engagement, and success across both Psychology and Neuroscience majors.

    + Partnering with the Department and Events Coordinator, this role organizes events that highlight undergraduate research and applied learning, including poster sessions or informational workshops, handling scheduling, logistics, and communication with participants.

    + Collects and organizes data on student research and applied experience participation, prepares summaries for departmental use, and contributes information for annual reports or program reviews.

    + May provide direction to student employees assisting with events or program tasks, ensuring accuracy and consistency in undergraduate program support.

    Undergraduate Program Management and Success

    + Oversee daily operations of the undergraduate program, supporting leadership and advisors with logistics and planning.

    + Maintain program procedures and records, ensuring compliance and resolving routine administrative issues.

    + Serve as primary contact for faculty, staff, and students on program processes and policies.

    + Manage departmental undergraduate scholarships, including application design, committee coordination, award tracking, and policy alignment.

    + Support the Departmental Honors program through student communication and activity coordination.

    + Collaborate with faculty and advising staff to implement strategies that improve student retention, engagement, and success.

    + Coordinate peer tutoring and contribute to student support initiatives.

    + Partner with graduate program staff to streamline processes across programs.

    + Lead student success and engagement efforts, including mentoring ambassadors and representing the department at recruitment events.

    + Work with Advancement and Communications teams to foster alumni relationships, support fundraising, and develop targeted communications.

    Resource Development and Process Improvement

    + Lead development and maintenance of the Student Success Canvas page as a centralized hub for undergraduate resources, including scholarships, research opportunities, internships, advising information, and career development tools.

    + Collaborate with Department Communications and Operations Professional to create engaging, multimedia content and guides to enhance student awareness, navigation, and utilization of departmental and campus resources.

    + Collaborates with advising staff, faculty, and departmental leadership to review and update materials, ensuring information reflects current university policies, academic requirements, and standard methodologies in undergraduate support.

    + Applies professional knowledge to evaluate program operations, student engagement initiatives, and workflow processes; identifies areas for improvement and independently recommends adjustments that enhance efficiency, accessibility, and service quality.

    + Develops and maintains process documentation, forms, and standard operating procedures to promote consistency, accuracy, and continuity across departmental operations.

    + Serves as a knowledgeable resource for faculty, staff, and student employees on undergraduate program processes, systems, and communication tools; provides guidance to ensure effective implementation and adherence to established practices.

    Other/Projects

    + Support departmental student-facing events, including orientation, recognition ceremonies, career panels, research showcases, and networking events.

    + Serve as a backup to other professional staff as needed and contribute to process improvements in departmental operations.

    + Other duties/projects as assigned that support the department's undergraduate program and student success.

    What You Should Know

    + Hybrid Schedule: We anticipate 4 days a week on campus per University and College policies and guidelines

    + This can be subject to change based on the business needs of the department.

    + New employees may be expected to be in-person 5 days a week during their department's onboarding and training.

    + Business Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM | Monday - Friday

     

    What We Can Offer

     

    The starting salary for this position is $62,400-$65,000.

    What We Require

    + BA/BS Degree from an accredited college or university.

    + An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

    + 3+ years of professional experience coordinating or supporting complex programs, managing compliance and reporting requirements, or supporting services in a regulated or structured environment.

    What You Will Need

    + Ability to make independent decisions and judgments in keeping with the level of the position, and plan, prioritize, balance, and review a variety of projects that may be completed simultaneously and on deadline.

    + Careful attention to detail and motivation for excellence.

    + Ability to use advanced technologies in spreadsheets, database management, and communications.

    + Proficient computer knowledge and skills with Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, DocuSign, Zoom, Qualtrics, and MS Office applications, particularly with Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    + Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, with a variety of professionals, administrators, and students.

    + Demonstrated ability to work independently and assume responsibility for initiating and completing critical functions in the management of programs.
