    Description

    We are seeking a highly skilled Level 2 Data Center Technician in Mount Pleasant, WI. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting data center infrastructure, troubleshooting hardware issues, performing server installations, and ensuring continuous network availability. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data center operations, network fundamentals, and hands-on experience with server hardware, cabling, and GPU deployment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Level 1 Support (as needed):

    + Move servers and switches to designated locations for installation.

    + Inspect equipment for damage prior to installation.

    + Install servers and switches, ensuring proper cabling per wire maps.

    + Bundle and organize cables according to industry standards.

    + Verify connectivity with network administrators.

    + Install additional components (NICs, drives, memory).

    + Assist with unboxing, prepping, and auditing servers and consumables.

    + Advanced Technical Tasks:

    + Troubleshoot server issues and isolate root causes.

    + Order and replace defective parts; manage return process with vendors.

    + Update server firmware to latest versions.

    + Configure IP addresses and default credentials.

    + Collaborate with network admins to resolve connectivity issues, replace cables, optics, and upgrade components.

    + Rack and stack servers or switches for temporary configurations.

    + Deploy and configure GPUs in servers for optimal performance.

    + Perform break-fix tasks, including component replacement and system recovery.

    Requirements:

    + High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

    + 2–3 years of experience in a data center environment.

    + Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).

    + Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

    + Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs, climb ladders, and wear PPE.

    + Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

    Core Skills:

    + Data center operations

    + Server deployment and troubleshooting

    + Cabling (Cat5, Cat6, fiber optics)

    + Rack and stack

    + GPU installation and configuration

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Certifications: CompTIA A+, Server+

    + CCENT or CCNA (preferred)

    + MCP/MSCE (preferred)

    + Technical Expertise: Windows OS administration

    + Scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash)

    + Structured cabling and optical testing

    + Storage device knowledge

    + Familiarity with ITIL Framework (ITSM, Change Management, Problem Management).

    + Experience with ticketing systems and workflow management.

    + OSHA30 or higher certification.

    This is a Contract position based out of Mount Pleasant, WI.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
