License and Certification Qualifications: Certification in Early Childhood Special Education requiredEducation Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field required. Master's degree in related field preferred.Experience Qualifications: Three years of successful teaching experience in an early childhood special education setting required.Skills Qualifications: Understanding of standardized tests and measurements; experience in administering and interpreting various educational assessments; skill in behavior observations; ability to function effectively as a member of a comprehensive assessment team; ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, school personnel, and community agencies; knowledge of special education law, district, and state policies; and excellent oral and written communication skills.Primary Responsibilities: Implement the early childhood special education assessment process that includes administering and interpreting assessment measures, developing reports and sharing information with school personnel and parents.?1. Administer standardized tests and measurements as part of a comprehensive assessment for children referred by their parents or Babies? Can?t Wait. a. Review referral information and coordinate plans for evaluation. b. Choose and administer appropriate assessment instruments. c. Collaborate with other team members to complete the assessment.2. Using assessment results, the child?s current health information, and developmental history, create a comprehensive report detailing the child?s current level of functioning across all developmental domains, highlighting individual strengths and areas of need.3. Develop and lead eligibility meetings following all departmental and legal guidelines. a. Schedule with all required team members. b. Effectively communicate and clearly interpret assessment results to parents or legal guardians c. Write eligibility reports referencing developmental norms and communicate effectively eligibility status with families 4. Provide guidance to early childhood special education teachers regarding information in reports on an as needed basis. 5. Complete required documentation accurately and timely. 6. Ensure timelines are met according to departmental and legal guidelines.7. Perform other duties as assigned.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
