    Position Summary

    The Behavioral Health Clinician (Primary Therapist) provides comprehensive outpatient mental health services to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. This role establishes a safe, therapeutic environment; completes diagnostic assessments; develops treatment plans; and provides evidence-based individual and group therapy.

     

    The clinician collaborates with clients, families, and an interdisciplinary care team to support recovery and illness management. This position also participates in the on-call rotation to provide mental health crisis evaluations for Finger Lakes Health Emergency Departments.

    Education

    Minimum:

    + Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Nursing, Art Therapy, or Psychology.

    Preferred:

    + PhD in a related discipline.

     

    Licenses & Certifications

    Required:

    + New York State license in one of the following:

    + Mental Health Counseling

    + Social Work

    + Nursing

    + Creative Arts Therapy

    + Valid NYS Driver’s License meeting FLH policy standards.

    + BLS certification via RQI during clinical orientation.

    + CPI certification within 90 days of hire.

    Experience

    Minimum:

    + 1 year of experience in a mental health or hospital setting.

    Preferred:

    + 3 years of mental health experience.

    + Ability to meet departmental productivity standards.

    + Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.

    + Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.

    + Computer literacy.

    Preferred:

    + Experience with Microsoft Office and electronic medical records.

     

    Hourly Rate of Pay Based on working Experience as a Therapist.
